Disabled comments on Contact page

I have disabled comments on the contact page in order to encourage using the actual contact email address and form, as well as discourage people from posting personal info on the website, such as their phone numbers.

I have added a markdown plugin for allowing easier content entry.

Markdown allows for all sorts of nice shortcuts without having to know HTML.

Sidebar Visibility

After more practice in looking at the new site, I’m finding the automatic disappearing sidebar to be really annoying. I have neutered the code that makes the sidebar disappear automatically and now it goes away only if you click on the vertical SIDEBAR.

NextGEN Photo Gallery

I enabled the NextGEN Photo gallery plugin to support displaying still photos and slide shows.

We should plan on creating a new gallery for each new event that we want to illustrate. For example, if we have a collection of photos for MacCamp 50, then those could go in a corresponding gallery. Other MacCamps would be in separate galleries of their own. All of these MacCamp galleries could be organized into the MacCamp Album.

Spirit One Logo

Added the Spirit One hosting at the sidebar, bottom left, using the previous supporting text. The image requires a bluish background because of the antialiasing already present.

Version Control and Mercurial

I installed Mercurial and it sounds promising. I could use some help to locate and clone the repository for the PMUG blog. Wondering if we might create a repository in the blog website that can be cloned.

This doesn’t help others, but whenever I make changes to the theme I will make them locally, upload and then commit the changes. I’ll do this to the version on the site, and if I mess something up, I’ll have the previous version to restore from.

Have you ever used mercurial, marty? Maybe we can set up a repository on a dropbox or something, that might work out splendidly.
