Basic Classes and Special Seminars are some of the educational outreaches of PMUG. By attending these seminars or free classes the needs of beginner, intermediate, and advanced Mac users can be met.
Sign up for all PMUG College Classes by calling the PMUG College Hotline, 503.224.4289. You can also send email to college@pmug.org. State your name and which class you want to attend. Messages are picked up about twice a week, and you may not receive a call back unless the class is full or cancelled.

The PMUG College offers a basic series of classes designed to help you get the most from your Macintosh.
The Basic Classes normally cover topics like those described below. Actual material presented may vary based on students attending each class.

INTRO TO LION
DescriptionMeet the new cat and see how scrolling, gestures, and All My Files work. Experience how Mission Control and Launch Pad change the way projects begin. Encounter the way Auto Save & Resume change the way you work.
BASIC IPHOTO
One of the easiest things to use your computer for is storing and sharing photos. Learn to use iPhoto for organizing, editing, and enhancing them. Familiarize yourself with how to have sets of photos become the background of your desktop. The basics of Faces & Places will be covered.
PHOTO PRESENTATIONS
Learn how to make photo presentations within iPhoto. Acquire the ability to take iPhoto Albums and make photo presentations for graduations, weddings, birthdays, or memorials. Disks can be made to play on DVD players, Macs or PC’s.
MANAGING MY IPAD/IPOD/IPHONE WITH ITUNES
Discover how to customize the settings on your device(s) as well as back up or share data back and forth. A person can have as much or as little interaction between a device and your computer as seems useful. Ascertain how to establish an optimum level for yourself.
YOUR WEB EXPERIENCE
Find out how to manage bookmarks and incorporate them into other browsers. Establish how secure connections and private browsing effect the web experience. Discover the difference between web mail on a browser and using a mail program.
TOOLS FOR WRITING
Text Edit is a program that comes on your Mac, and many people don’t fully understand its potential as a writing tool. Assimilate that potential into your creating and editing repertoire. Also discover how writing becomes publishing using the Pages program.
Special Seminars:
The PMUG College also occasionally offers Special Seminars covering a wide variety of subjects and programs. You need to be a PMUG member and preregister for the seminars. The cost for a seminar depends on the length of the class.
