PMUG was an early adopter of BBS (bulletin-board system) telecommunications, and still maintains its FirstClass BBS, The Electric Sheep. For a $23 initial fee ($18 for renewal), you get access to this PMUG members-only BBS. Its icon-driven interface offers direct access to other PMUG members as well as SIG updates, upcoming events, articles, for sale items, on-line help files, and a wide range of generally fun and interesting stuff.
Most people log on to The Electric Sheep by using the application FirstClass. Below is a link to download the free version of the client preconfigured for the Sheep. This is a compressed file that you decompress and copy into your Application Folder. Then you launch the application, enter your name and choose your own password. You will have limited access to the system until an administrator approves your account. If you have any questions or problems with this, email membership@pmug.org.
If you want to check your Sheep email from a public computer, you are able to access the Sheep server through a web link. From your web browser go to this link http://cafe.pmug.org/Login/ Enter your Electric Sheep login and password in the dropdown window. Please note, this access can be much slower than directly through the FirstClass application.
