It still boggles me that you can carry a video studio in one hand. I took my camcorder and G3 to the PMUG picnic on a lark. It was quickly evident there was no real 'action' going on (read 'visually boring'), and therefore not much story - until I asked Rory if he had any music in his house. The music provided the wall on which this video was hung. Unless you are doing news though, it's best to have the concept of what you want before going into a project. The PMUG mustard title, by the way, was spontaneous. A lucky break for me.
iMovie is a great thing. It is difficult to think of a concept you couldn't do with it. Since video is now my hobby I have made the decision to work entirely within its framework. It's a challenge just for the fun of it.
I got back into Apple when Dell couldn't make Win 95 work on a '98 machine' - which cost me three months of business... and I thought I couldn't afford a Mac - ha! My company plays with toy railroads; we convert 'garden' (outdoor) trains to radio control and battery power. I usta do video for real, many many years ago.
