SATURDAY AFTERNOON
iTUNES ‘05 AND GARAGEBAND-FOCUS ON CHANGES
MATT NAVARRE
This pair of Saturday classes mesh together to cruise you through iLife (iPhoto, iTunes, Garage Band, iMovie, iDVD). Along with iWork (the new Pages and Keynote, covered in a Sunday morning session), this is the core of Apple. Your knowledge of these applications opens the way to taking full advantage of your Mac.
For those who have been using iLife already, you will be very pleased with the improvements from version 4 to version 5. Tighter integration is joined by a good number of feature improvements as well as noticeable speed improvements is several places. For iLife rookies, this is a great chance to see all the applications in use - and to follow them up in your cabin with lots of help before your new knowledge disappears.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON
iSTOPMOTION, ANIMATION FOR FUN AND ...MORE FUN
STEVE TRAVIS, PRESIDENT OF MUGPORT
A Workshop on creating animations using a program called iStopMotion from Boinx Software. Steve, president of MUGPort Usergroup in Newport, has a background in video and multimedia production. He also teaches video production and animation to local schoolchildren. Steve is the Producer of the annual Lincoln County Student Film Festival.
The stop motion technique can be a time consuming and tedious process but with programs like iStopMotion, you can create fun animations easily and fairly quickly. The program uses either an iSight camera or a digital camcorder to capture the images from your Stage. For the workshop, you will need a firewire capable Mac running OSX 10.2.8 or newer and Quicktime 6 or newer. You will also need an iSight camera or digital camcorder. A camera tripod is recommended. We will be able to provide a couple of extra iSight cameras for those who don’t have one. It is recommended to work in pairs as the process moves along much quicker with an extra set of hands. Steve will talk about importing the animations into iMovie and Final Cut Pro to add sounds and effects. He will also show some examples of projects he has worked on. Steve will bring lots of objects that you can use for creating animations: Legos®, crayons, small blocks, etc. but feel free to bring your own supplies. A demo version of the iStopMotion program will be provided. If you consider purchasing the program before MacCamp, you can check it out at www.Boinx.com
SUNDAY MORNING
iWORK ‘05
