Class descriptions

Customizing Photoshop Workflows - Gary Hilton
One problem you face when editing a photograph is what to do first. Should you first work to improve color, or the tones and contrast? Clone first? Or crop? When is it best to sharpen? The order you choose (the workflow) can produce different results, and may degrade image data. We'll try to clarify these choices.

Converting music to digital - Peren Bjork
A how-to session on converting vinyl LPs (or any analog audio) to CDs using equipment and software that most people already have. If you don't have it, we'll discuss where to find it cheap and some of it free (software at least).

iLife Overview - Ken Gengler
The intention of this class is to introduce you to the components of iLife: iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and iWeb. In this class you will learn how to accomplish some of the basic tasks in each of these applications and how they interact with each other.

iStopMotion - Steve Travis
The stop motion technique can be a time consuming and tedious process but with programs like iStopMotion, you can create fun animations easily and fairly quickly. The program uses either an iSight camera or a digital camcorder to capture the images from your "Stage". You will need a firewire capable Mac and an iSight camera or digital camcorder. A camera tripod is recommended. Bring "objects" that you can use for creating animations: beans, crayons, small blocks. A demo version of the iStopMotion program will be provided.

Bento - Janet DeVore
If you were interested in the FileMaker Pro class that we had last October but didn't want to invest the time and money for the super-powerful application, there is now another way to start using a database application to organize your life. Come learn about Bento, a brand-new application that is easy to use - and affordable. It does require that you are using Mac OSX 10.5.

iPods Fully Loaded - Ron Schmid
More than just music players! Learn what else you can do with them. How to put movies, photos, maps, calendars on them as well as other cool iPod tips, tricks and essentials.
